What Is a VI Peel?

A VI Peel combines powerful ingredients like salicylic acid, trichloroacetic acid, and phenol to exfoliate damaged skin and rewind the clock on aging. The peel is an excellent solution for eradicating the dirt, debris, oil, dead skin cells, and impurities that interfere with a radiant, timeless glow. In addition to ridding the complexion of surface-level damage, the treatment encourages cellular regeneration and collagen renewal at the deeper layers for a lasting transformation.

A VI Peel can address the following concerns:

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Poor skin texture and tone
  • Acne scars
  • Sunspots
  • Enlarged pores
  • Sun damage
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Facial redness
  • Melasma
  • Inflammation

Who Makes a Good Candidate for a VI Peel?

VI Peels are safe and effective for all skin types and tones, making the treatment a sought-after skincare solution at our world-class medspa in Florida. The peel is powerful enough to exfoliate the outermost damaged skin layer but gentle enough that patients won’t need excessive downtime. The VI Peel is not recommended for women who are pregnant or nursing or for those with active skin infections or pronounced skin laxity. In order to confirm that a VI Peel is a good match for your goals, you will undergo a detailed consultation with our team.

What Can I Expect During My Session?

Before undergoing a VI Peel, you will be asked to follow certain guidelines, such as discontinuing the use of retinoids and acids and avoiding cosmetic treatments like waxing and laser hair removal.

On the day of your procedure, you will be seen in one of our comfortable medspa treatment rooms for a quick 30-minute session. Your skin will be cleansed, and the VI Peel solution will be applied to your skin with a special applicator, one layer at a time. While a VI Peel is not considered painful, you may experience a slight stinging or tingling sensation. You will return home with the solution still on your skin, and within a few hours, you can wash it off.

Recovery After a Sarasota VI Peel

A VI Peel will bring unwanted pigment to the skin’s surface. For this reason, your skin will look darker than usual at first as you heal. You can use makeup to camouflage any discoloration for the first few days. Within about three days, your body will begin to shed the outermost layer of damaged skin cells, and this phase of the recovery process can last up to a week.

You will be permitted to resume normal activities right away after a VI Peel in Florida; however, you should follow certain guidelines. Avoid picking at your skin as it peels. Use a Bowtique Med Spa-approved moisturizer daily to soften, nourish, and soothe your complexion. Make sure to wear sunblock when you go outside, as your skin will be especially sensitive to the sun’s harmful UV rays after your treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions VI Peel

Is The VI Peel Safe For Patients With Darker Skin?

Yes. A VI Peel is a safe and effective skincare solution for all skin tones and types. During your consultation, we can answer your questions and concerns about the efficacy of our various treatments in more detail.

How Many VI Peels Will I Need To See Results?

Each patient is unique in how their skin responds to different treatments, including chemical peels, so your treatment plan will be tailored to your needs, comfort levels, and healing abilities. In general, undergoing a single peel can provide notable benefits, including a smoother, brighter skin tone and improved skin texture. However, our providers recommend 3-6 VI Peels to achieve optimal anti-aging results. During your private consultation, our team will help determine the best treatment schedule for accomplishing your goals.

Who Should NOT Get The VI Peel?

While a VI Peel is a safe and comfortable treatment for most people, there are certain contraindications to be aware of. A VI Peel is not recommended for the following groups:

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding moms
  • Patients with allergies to aspirin, hydroquinone, or phenol
  • Patients who have taken Accutane (oral isotretinoin) in the last 6 months
  • Patients with active cold sores, warts, open wounds, or a history of herpes simplex
  • Individuals who have undergone chemotherapy and/or radiation in the last 6 months
  • Patients with a history of autoimmune or liver diseases

How Many Times A Year Can I Undergo A VI Peel?

You can undergo a VI Peel every 4-6 weeks as needed. After your skincare goals have been met, you can continue to undergo maintenance sessions with a VI Peel every 3 months for a total of 4 appointments per year.

When Can I Wear Makeup After A VI Peel?

Once your skin has been coated with the VI Peel solution, you should not use any cosmetics, makeup, or sunscreen for at least 4 hours. Once the solution has been washed off and your skin is clean and dry, you can use makeup to mask any discoloration.

How Soon Can I Work Out After A VI Peel?

VI Peel patients in Sarasota should avoid strenuous exercise for 72-96 hours. This will help to prevent blistering and PIH (Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation). For patients especially prone to melasma and/or pigment damage, exercise should be postponed for a full week.

Is It Safe To Go Out In The Sun After A VI Peel?

Since your skin will be extra sensitive to the sun after a VI Peel, aim to avoid direct or excessive sun exposure for at least one week after your session. Make sure to apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 50 if you do go outside, and wear a sunhat and sunglasses.
